River Parade Art Contest

A cherished part of Fiesta is the River Parade Art Contest. Each January local public elementary schools are asked to submit artworks depicting the year’s River Parade theme.

All public elementary schools in San Antonio are eligible to participate. One finalist will be chosen from each of the 10 City Council Districts, each of whom shall receive $1000 to go towards their school’s art supplies. Out of the 10 finalists, one grand winner will be selected. The grand winner will receive the following:

• Have his/her artwork featured on the cover of the River Parade Program, which is distributed to ticket holders free of charge
• Ride in the River Parade with the Grand Marshal
• Receive an award from King Antonio to be given at the Arneson River Theater Ceremony, broadcast live on television.
• Get free River Parade tickets for the winner’s siblings and parents.
