2016 Texas Cavaliers Student Art Contest Grand Prize Winner Announced

2016 Art Contest Winner smCongratulations to Natalie Tan of Lock Hill Elementary for being awarded the Margaret Casillas Grand Prize Artist Award during the 2016 Texas Cavaliers Student Art Contest!  As this year’s grand prize winner, Natalie’s artwork will grace the cover of the official Texas Cavalier’s River Parade Program.  In addition, Natalie will ride in the Texas Cavaliers River Parade with our Grand Marshal and she will receive free Whataburgers for a year.  Natalie will also receive a one-week scholarship to attend Southwest School of Art’s Summer Program and Natalie’s school will receive $5,000 for her school’s art program.

Thank you to the 2,085 young artists from 80 area elementary schools for participating in this year’s contest.  In total, more than $46,000 in prize money and scholarship will be awarded to our winners’ schools’ art programs.  A special thank you to the Southwest School of Art, the Kittie Nelson Ferguson Foundation, the Nelson Puett Foundation, Whataburger and Argo Group International Holdings, LTD for their continued support of the Texas Cavaliers Student Art Contest.
